Our primary care model is built around time, trust, and truly getting to know you. We offer extended appointment times so concerns aren’t rushed and symptoms aren’t minimized. Care at Shen is trauma-informed and collaborative, meaning we prioritize safety, consent, and clear communication at every step. We understand that many people come to primary care carrying long histories of stress, pain, or feeling unheard — and we aim to create a space where your experience is taken seriously.
Because we work closely with our mental health team, we’re able to support both physical and emotional health in a connected way. This is especially helpful for individuals managing chronic pain, stress-related conditions, anxiety, depression, or complex symptoms that don’t fit neatly into one category. When appropriate, care may include medical treatment, mental health support, and integrative options such as acupuncture — always guided by your goals and preferences. We provide in-person and telehealth care for adults in Portland, Oregon and are currently accepting new patients.

Our whole person approach promotes the understanding the role behavioral issues can play in our physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Because each person is different it's essential to often draw upon multiple therapeutic modalities and techniques. Care is trauma-informed and paced thoughtfully, with an emphasis on safety, collaboration, and understanding what has (and hasn’t) helped in the past.
Because our medical providers work closely with our mental health team — including clinicians experienced in pain-informed care — we’re able to support both the physical and emotional aspects of chronic pain. This integrated approach is especially helpful for individuals managing conditions such as persistent musculoskeletal pain, migraines, stress-related pain, or symptoms that have not fully responded to standard treatments. Treatment plans may include acupuncture alongside medical and therapeutic support, always tailored to your needs, comfort level, and goals.
